Bishop Evangelista lays cornerstone for the 2-storey building in Ompsa

TORRIJOS, Marinduque - Bishop Reynaldo G. Evangelista, the bishop of Boac officiated the ‘Laying of the Cornerstone’ for the two-storey building of Our Mother of Perpetual Succor Academy (Ompsa) last October 8, 2011 at the Ompsa laying site.

The laying of the cornerstone ceremony started at 10:30 am. This was attended by Rev. Fr. Edwin Sager - the catholic schools’ superintendent, Rev. Fr. Christian Regencia - the Ompsa school director, Mrs. Enriqueta R. Fabul – the school principal together with the faculty and staff, the officers and member of the Ompsa Alumni Association headed by Engr. Joel Palatino - the alumni president, guests and visitors.

The ceremony was started with an introduction featuring Ompsa as a catholic school since 1953 up to the present. This was followed by Fr. Regencia’s reading of the resolution of donating the lot and deeds of the donation from the Diocese of Boac Everyone watched attentively while Bishop Reynaldo Evangelista officiated the rites for the laying of the cornerstone. He also delivered his message to everyone in the ceremony. The affair was followed by a sumptuous lunch prepared by the administration. While enjoying lunch, the visitors were entertained by a short movie clip to advertise and to ask support for the construction of Ompsanians dream. At the end, Mrs. Fabul thanked everyone for gracing the occasion.

The ceremony just proves that Ompsa as the most trusted institution in the municipality with regard to quality Christian education produces quality graduated who are globally competitive in their chosen field and or dreams to develop new facilities to cater the growing demand of today’s generation. - Madilyn Colopano/The Ompsanian Chronicles

Teachers honored during Teachers’ Day

In accordance with the celebration of the World Teachers Day, the Student Body Organization (SBO) with the cooperation of all the students honored the teaching force of Our Mother of Perpetual Succor Academy (Ompsa).

The activity started by rendition of the Ompsa Drum and Glockenspiel Corps.

Each teacher walked down the aisle of the church as the students clap their hands while simultaneously describing the best feature and attitude of each teacher.

After which, each student gave their message of appreciation especially prepared for their advisers.

Juan, Colopano bring home the crown as they compete on Mr. and Ms. Campus Journalists

“Be ready and always be smart”, these are the words that Mr. Santos R. Revilla mentioned during the District Campus Journalism on October 1-2 held at Torrijos Central School which was hosted by Maranlig National High School.

Campus Journalism is one of the most amazing periods for all The Ompsanian journalists. Even though it is their first time to join the journalism they earned many awards.

The search for Mr. and Ms. Campus Journalists is one of the awards earned by The Ompsanians, which they really exerted efforts to achieve the goal they dreamt.

Ma. Madilyn Colopano and Jethro Paul Juan of Ompsa were the champion for the said search.
The participants for broadcasting from different schools served as the masters of the ceremony during the contest. Madilyn and Jethro though pressured and were not really prepared for the contest felt happy and overwhelmed as the crowd rooted for them. Both of them walked elegantly in their rugged attire, malong attire ad in casual attire.

Madilyn won also as ‘Best in Casual Attire’ and Jethro got ‘Best in Rugged Attire’ award. They brought home the bacon with pride and honor. The pageant and the proclamation of their championship has been revealed all over the campus. The feature writer contests interviewed them and write article about their winning.

The Ompsanian Broadcaster composed of Arriane Mae Gonzales, Krystel Jane Grimaldo, Irish Ann Revilla, Christian Paul Fabavier and Jethro Paul Juan were the champion in Broadcasting. They will represent the Torrijos Distruct in Bradcasting in the Division Press Conference.

All participants for the training went home with a smile carrying the knowledge and skills acquired from the trainors.

Ompsa family offers bouquet to blessed Mary

The feast of Mary’s Nativity was celebrated meaningfully by Ompsa family headed by the third year students together with their advisers highlighted with activities honoring Mary’s Nativity.

Novena masses were held from August 30 to September 7 sponsored by students from each section together with their advisers. Fr. Christian Regencia – the school director officiated the mass on September 8 which is the feast day of Mary’s Nativity.

After mass, the Ompsa family headed by the teachers, rendered the traditional putong to honor the Virgin Mary. Putong is a Marinduque traditional culture done when someone is celebrating a birthday.
Bouquet of flowers were also offered to show respect to the blessed mother.

Ms. Mary Ann Maniquez, the religion coordinator gave a short lecture about Mary with the help of slide presentation to give the Ompsanian a glimpse of who Mary was in the Philippines life.

In the afternoon, a Para-liturgy for Mary was held before the poem reciting contest.

Ompsa welcomes freshmen

Last July 1, an acquaintance party and induction ball was held at the Torrijos Covered Court Plaza. Mayor Gil R. Briones, Vice Mayor Roberto F. Macdon, Rev. Fr. Christian Francis T. Regencia - the school director, Mrs. Enriqueta R. Fabul - the school principal, the faculty and staff were all present.

The newly elected Student Body Organization (SBO) and classroom officers had their oath taking ceremony. The town mayor inducted the SBO officers while Vice Mayor Macdon inducted the classroom officers.

Mrs. Fabul, enumerated the duties and responsibilities of each officers from president down to the councilors. Rev. Fr. Regencia welcomed the visitors, teachers, and the students in his opening remarks.

In additional. Mayor Briones, Vice Mayor Macdon and Mrs. Fabul gave their inspirational messages.

The most awaited part of the program for the students was the dance competition of every section. There were many exciting games that awaken their energy.

The affair was a big success ad memorable. All Ompsanians were happy that night. Surely this momentous experience is unforgettable to Ompsanians especially to the freshmen. Dyan K. Rioflorido/The Ompsanian Chronicles
